Cade Klubnik has had an up-and-down start since becoming Clemson’s starting QB last season.

In the Week 1 opening loss to Georgia, the junior signal caller struggled mightily, finishing the blowout loss to the Bulldogs with just 142 passing yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

Clemson has faced plenty of scrutiny since the Week 1 loss to open the 2024 college football season, so it was imperative for Klubnik to bounce back against Appalachian State at home on Saturday night.

The Tigers’ quarterback didn’t waste any time on Saturday night.

Appalachian State sent pressure on a 3rd-and-10 less than 2 minutes into the game, but the Clemson offensive line held up and Klubnik stepped up and connected with Bryant Wesco for a picture-perfect 76-yard touchdown pass.

Klubnik went 11-for-11 for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first quarter against App State.

If Klubnik can continue playing at this level and carry the momentum into the rest of the season, Clemson will have a chance to salvage its season and make a run toward the College Football Playoff.

Wesco is a true freshman who was a top-50 prospect in the class of 2024. He’s expected to have a big role in Clemson’s offense this season.
