The Atlanta Falcons are heading to London this week to take on the New York Jets in a Week 5 matchup. However, one of their top offensive players won’t be making the trip.

On Thursday, the Falcons announced that wide receiver Calvin Ridley will be out this week due to a “personal matter.” It will be the first game that Ridley has missed this season.

“We are in support of Calvin during this time and will respect his privacy on the matter,” the Falcons said in their statement.

Ridley, a former Alabama standout in his fourth NFL season, has been off to a solid start as the No. 1 wide receiver in Atlanta’s offense. In 4 games, he has 27 catches for 255 yards and a touchdown. In Week 4, he had 7 receptions for a season-high 80 yards in a loss to Washington.

It’s possible that Ridley could have put up some even bigger numbers in a favorable matchup against the struggling Jets. However, he’ll have to wait to try to do so until he gets back on the field. The Falcons have a bye in Week 6, then will return to action with a road matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 7.
