Cam Newton announced on Monday that he would be participating in Auburn’s Pro Day on Tuesday, throwing in front of NFL scouts as he attempts to make a return to the league. And he did so in classic Newton fashion.
“Tell me how these randoms keep getting jobs,” he said in a video posted to social media. “Ain’t 32 motherf—ers better than me.”
Newton did not speak to members of the media after his session. Per AL.com’s Tom Green, Newton completed 28 of his 34 pass attempts. He had one drop and a couple of overthrows.
Here are some of his pass attempts on the day:

A 3-time Pro Bowler and the 2015 NFL MVP, Newton spent the first 9 years of his career with the Carolina Panthers before being released in March 2020. He was signed by the New England Patriots later that offseason and started 15 games for the Pats in 2020, throwing 8 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
New England initially re-signed him to a 1-year deal for the 2021 season — a deal reportedly worth close to $14 million — but decided to release him on Sept. 1, 2021. He returned to the Panthers midway through the 2021 season and made another 5 starts.
He did not play during the 2022 season.
Newton certainly has a lot to prove as he looks to make another comeback. He completed only 55% of his passes with Carolina in 2021 and hasn’t had more touchdowns than interceptions in a season since 2018. Still, he’s a popular figure and there’s perhaps some team that would be looking to bring him in as a veteran backup.
Here’s what folks are saying about him:
Auburn was a 7-5 team, but with Cam Newton (and Nick Fairley) they were national champions.
Heisman Winner. NFL MVP. Super Bowl attendee. Cam Newton is still better than some of the Quarterbacks y’all are comparing to Cam Newton. https://t.co/ItjMKQqKo1

Honestly, he is Top 15. I can only place 10 for sure ahead of him. He damn well might be #11. It’s sad that he is not in the league. It’s a damn shame.

Cam Newton finished Pro Day, but declined to speak with media. He didn’t want to take any shine away from his younger brother Caylin Newton and other Auburn players participating.

Cam Newton showing up for an “I’ve still got it” workout in Zubaz should be worthy of an NFL contract. https://t.co/gQpUOeW5n6

I have no clue how well Cam Newton can still throw the ball, but I would bet my life on it that the dude could still rush for 8-10 TDs.
You’re damn right I’d love to have him as Patrick Mahomes backup. pic.twitter.com/t4gYMXYJJS

Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
