Video: Cam Newton’s surprise drop in at a North Carolina middle school playground

Former Auburn QB Cam Newton sometimes comes across as a kid at heart.

Friday afternoon brought about one of those moments.

The Carolina Panthers superstar was reportedly driving along the road near the Community School of Davidson when he noticed a child on the playground wearing his jersey.

According to WSOC TV, that prompted the former Heisman Trophy winner and national champion to pull over and give the kids a Friday surprise they’re likely to remember for the rest of their lives.

After receiving permission, Newton hopped the fence and threw a football around with the seventh graders, which were star struck and excited at the same time.

He posed for pictures, cracked jokes and threw some passes before moving about his day.

One of the teachers, Mimi Siadak, described the surreal experience to the news station.

“The students just herded all around him. I still can’t believe he did that,” Siadak said.

“I saw one girl crying and hyperventilating and when I asked, ‘Sweetheart what’s wrong?’ she said, ‘That was just the best moment of my life,’” Siadak said.

“The kids were having the hardest time coming down, and I was having the hardest time too, because I was so excited,” Siadak said.
