Cam Newton’s time coming to an end? Social media gushes over former TAMU QB Kyle Allen
Starting in relief of former Auburn Tiger Cam Newton, one-time Texas A&M Aggie Kyle Allen had a career day for the Carolina Panthers on Sunday vs. the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
His second start in the National Football League, Allen threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns as the Panthers picked up their first win of the season, 38-20.
This strong showing earned Allen plenty of praise on social media:

A five-star prospect in the 2014 class according to the 247Sports Composite, Allen was the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the class and the No. 1 player in the state of Arizona.
Initially enrolling at Texas A&M, Allen appeared in 20 games over the 2014-15 seasons for the Aggies throwing for 3,532 yards, 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Ironically, he competed with his opposition on Sunday, Kyler Murray, for the starting job at A&M during the 2015 season.
Announcing his intention to transfer in December 2015, Allen enrolled at the University of Houston. Sitting out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules, he played in four games for the Cougars in 2017. Electing to forgo his senior year of eligibility, he signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
The starter for the first two games of the season, former Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton was sidelined with a foot injury. When on the field, Newton has been less than effective, winning just one of his last 10 starts.
Perhaps a new era was born on Sunday: The Kyle Allen era in Charlotte.
