CBS Sports’ lead analyst, Gary Danielson, has been around football for a long time. While fans don’t always seem to agree, the guy knows what he is talking about more times than not.

On Wednesday, Danielson joined Mark Heim on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 to discuss the Crimson Tide and his views on the rest of the SEC’s chances of dethroning the top-ranked team in the country.

“It will be an upset if they lose a game,” Daniel said on the show. “It’s going to take a B-minus effort by Alabama and an A effort by an opponent in the SEC to beat them.”

It was a strong take, but after the Tide’s 59-0 victory over Vanderbilt this past Saturday, it may not be as much of a stretch as some people think.

Now, Danielson did list multiple teams who could have a shot at beating the Tide, including Texas A&M, Auburn and potentially Georgia if they ended up facing each other in the SEC Championship game.

This is what the analyst had to say about Auburn in relation to their chances of beating Alabama:

“I do believe Auburn can compete with Alabama if they can get their running game going. They are a legitimate defensive team. I think they will get better as the season goes on. That’s a hurdle.”

Before the Tide can think about all these other teams that Danielson mentioned, they have to get through a 2-1 Ole Miss team who is coming off a bye week with one of the top offenses in the SEC.
