For the first time in a couple of years, the SEC career receiving records are in no danger of being disrupted.
In 2014 we saw Alabama WR Amari Cooper establish himself as the SEC’s co-leader in career touchdown receptions at 31. The year before, Vanderbilt’s Jordan Matthews set the league record with 262 career receptions and 3,759 receiving yards.
While this year’s crop of receivers does not offer the record-breaking ability that the 2013 and 2014 versions did, there are still some nice players to watch for this fall.
Ole Miss junior Laquon Treadwell was on his way to following up an impressive freshman season with a breakout sophomore campaign before a gruesome leg injury against Auburn ended his season. He enters the fall as arguably the most talented of the SEC crop, provided good health.
South Carolina’s Pharoh Cooper turned heads with a 1,136 yard sophomore season and has two years of eligibility remaining to climb the career leaderboards.
Georgia senior Malcolm Mitchell has established himself as the senior member of the league’s receiver group, returning for a final season with the Bulldogs.
