Carson Beck reveals when he felt comfortable as a starter, anticipation to play in big games
Carson Beck has emerged as an outstanding first-year started for Georgia, but it didn’t come without a bit of a rocky start.
Beck struggled some early, but for him, things started to click a few games into the season.
“Obviously it was definitely a work in progress as the season kind of started,” Beck said during the SEC players teleconference on Monday. “But I’d say that South Carolina game, after that second half kind of where we started to pick up steam, started to become a little bit more comfortable within the offense and with the players around me, and I think our confidence kind of shot up from there. We’ve been able to pick up steam as the season has gone along.”
Now Beck is gearing up for the biggest game of his career so far in the SEC Championship against Alabama. It’s the kind of game Beck knew he was going to have to play in at some point when he committed to Georgia.
“Obviously when I made my decision to come here, I knew that at some point when I did have my opportunity that we were going to have the chance to play in big-time games like this on a big-time stage,” Beck said. “Obviously super excited and stoked for the opportunity and the challenge that awaits us.
I know the rest of the team is also super excited for the opportunity. Definitely just going to go out there and try to execute and have fun.”
Georgia would almost certainly get a spot in the College Football Playoff with a win over Alabama on Saturday, so a few more big games will likely be coming for Beck.
