Alabama and Georgia, it’s the matchup the people want.
In 2018, the Bulldogs met the Crimson Tide in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game—which the Tide took 35-28. They met again this past weekend for the title, and CBS says it was the most-watched conference championship game since 2018.
The SEC Championship — Alabama's win over Georgia — drew 15.3 million viewers for CBS. That's the second most-watched game of the 2021 CFB season behind Michigan-Ohio State (15.89 million). CBS said it was college football's most-watched conference championship game since 2018.

Viewership, according to a release from CBS Sports, peaked at 17.9 million viewers. Average viewership for the game was up more than 70%.
With championship weekend now over and college football moving into bowl season, the CBS college football season is largely over (it’ll broadcast the Washington State-Miami bowl game on New Year’s Eve). Viewership, according to the network, led all major networks with an average of 5.2 million viewers per game this season.
CBS will be the broadcast home for the SEC and the SEC Championship Game for 2 more seasons before the league’s media rights deal moves games exclusively to Disney-owned properties on ESPN and ABC for 2024.
