CBS Sports analyst Brian “BJ” Jones is high on the LSU Tigers, and a lot of that comes down to linebacker Whit Weeks.

Jones even went so far as to say that he views Weeks as the second coming of former NFL great Luke Kuechly, and a primary reason that LSU can win in a matchup in which quarterback play is not expected to be a primary factor given the way that both Garrett Nussmeier and Conner Weigman have struggled at certain points.

“Both of these quarterbacks, ya’ll have said it, have struggled,” he said. “I’m going LSU in this because of my homie, Whit Weeks… Second coming of Luke Kuechly, he’s all over the field, he goes 100 miles per hour, but he’s still under control. I love the way they utilize this guy on the defense.”

Weeks is just one of many great defensive players the LSU has had in the fold as a university well-known for producing top NFL Draft prospects, especially on that side of the ball. He currently totals 68 combined tackles (36 solo) with 2.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.

He finished out his latest performance, the 34-10 victory over Arkansas, with 9 combined tackles (5 solo), 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 pass defensed. LSU and Texas A&M are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in College Station.
