The Big Ten Conference could make an announcement this month on the conference’s television rights deal, which will reveal new members of the Big Ten, per CBS Sports’ college football writer Dennis Dodd.

With Southern Cal and UCLA set to join the Big Ten, more schools could join the conference as the television rights deal is announced. Dodd believes the next domino will fall in college football realignment.

Dodd outlined how the Big Ten could be the first league that is worth $1 billion per year. In an interview with “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” on WJOX 94.5 out of Birmingham, Alabama, Dodd discussed how the Big Ten will grow:

“The last Big Ten contract for six years was worth a total of $2.6 billion. This is at least $1 billion a year and if Notre Dame gets in, it’s north of that,” Dodd said.

Notre Dame has not made a decision on its future as an independent football school and an ACC member school for other sports. The Big Ten could be ready to add another school before the television rights deal is finalized. With the addition of notable schools, the Big Ten’s revenue could create a bigger shift in conference realignment.
