Coaches leaving one job for another or getting fired is nothing new in college football. However, it seems to be happening much earlier this season than ever before.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron agreed to a “mutual separation” earlier this month as the Tigers have struggled. There may be more to come soon, according to a report by FOX reporter Bruce Feldman.
According to Feldman, Justin Fuente is on an extremely hot seat at Virginia Tech, which has a 3-4 record. Feldman said Fuente’s “icy” relationship with some key people involved with the athletic department could be a factor in Fuente’s future. Feldman also said that this could be the last season for Gary Patterson at Texas Christian. The Horned Frogs are 3-4 this season. Both were hot coaching commodities just a couple of years ago.

Texas Christian plays at Kansas today at 3:30 EST. Virginia Tech plays at Georgia Tech at noon on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are 3-4.
