CFB insider shares latest on Florida WR Eric Singleton Jr. ahead of Auburn game

It was set to be a homecoming of sorts for Florida’s Eric Singleton Jr. this weekend, but that may not be the case anymore.
The senior wide receiver transferred from Auburn prior to the 2026 campaign and figured to be one of the focal points of Jon Sumrall‘s first offense in Gainesville.
But Singleton injured his ankle in the opener against FAU and was sidelined for the team’s Week 2 contest against Campbell, and as ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Wednesday, it isn’t looking increasingly likely that the speedy target will be full-go this Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Thamel reported that Singleton has been tabbed a game-time decision, with the Gators expecting him to suit up and try to play, although there’s no certainty that he will.
An Atlanta native, Singleton’s collegiate career began at Georgia Tech, where he starred in 2023 and 2024. He racked up over 700 receiving yards each year and accounted for 10 total touchdowns, which allowed him to enter the transfer portal and earn a shot in the SEC.
But with Auburn‘s offense sputtering for much of the 2025 campaign, Singleton’s numbers dipped to a mere 534 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns despite posting a career-high in receptions (58).
Teaming up with Sumrall in Gainesville was supposed to be the fresh start Singleton needed, but he’ll have to wait to see the field for now.
