Northwestern had a battle against Duke on Friday night.

One of the more interesting parts of the game was something that had nothing to do with football, however.

In the 3rd quarter, with the Wildcats up 10-7, play was briefly stopped as a rabbit ran onto the field. Northwestern’s mascot, Willie, cornered the rabbit in the end zone and successfully got the small animal to scurry off the playing field.

“Oklahoma Drill, let’s go,” the announcer joked. You just never know what you’re going to see when you turn on a college football game.

The rabbit was bad luck apparently, because the Wildcats fumbled on the very next play. Caleb Komolafe was hit behind the line of scrimmage and Duke recovered the ball. The fumble would lead to a field goal from the Blue Devils, tying the game at 10.

The game would end up going to 2OT, with the Wildcats ultimately losing 26-20.  The Blue Devils, meanwhile, got another win to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Next up on the schedule, the Wildcats take on Eastern Illinois. The team will be looking to get back into the win column against the FCS team. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils will look to improve to 3-0 against UConn next weekend.
