Chad Morris’ message to the fans after ’embarrassing’ loss to San Jose State

Even in the rebuilding process of a college football program, sometimes there can be losses that turn the fan base against the current regime.
That might be the case in Fayetteville after Arkansas was defeated by San Jose State, 31-24, in Razorback Stadium on Saturday.
Chad Morris, now in his second season trying to rebuild the Hogs into a contender again after Bret Bielema left the program disheveled, admits that the loss to a Mountain West team that finished 1-11 last year is embarrassing, but has a message for the Razorbacks fans that might want to give up on the team.
“Message to the fans is … look, it’s unacceptable,” Morris said during his weekly press conference. “It’s completely unacceptable and it’s embarrassing. I’m embarrassed. I hurt for our fans. I hurt for our players. I hurt for our coaches. I hurt for our program. I hurt for our university. I mean, that performance is not who we are. We’ve got a choice now. We can either dwell on it, or we can do something about it. If I know these players and I know these coaches and I know what they stand for, they’ll do something about it. And they’ll respond. I will be totally shocked if they don’t.”
The team will need to respond in a big way as they have a tough road ahead of them, starting Saturday when the Razorbacks travel to Arlington, Texas to play Texas A&M in a SEC West game. A road trip to Kentucky follows and then Arkansas returns home to host No. 7 Auburn.
