Arkansas is now only one loss away from a winless SEC record in Chad Morris’ first season in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks were completely outclassed by Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday, falling 52-6 in a game that got away from Morris’ squad early. With this tough loss, Arkansas falls to 2-9 on the season, with a 0-7 SEC record on the season.

Following the events on Saturday, Morris was very emotional in his postgame press conference. He seemingly called out everyone in the program and used the word “unacceptable” repeatedly to describe what had just occurred.

“Completely unacceptable. Unacceptable in all areas. Unacceptable coaching. Unacceptable playing. Unacceptable effort. That’s not what this program is going to be about, it’s absolutely not acceptable,” Morris said after the game. “We are going to find out – we are in a big gut-check time right now.”

Morris, on what caused his team’s terrible showing on Saturday:

“We had some opportunities and we were unable to execute, I think that’s the biggest thing. Just a lack of execution,” he answered. “Drops. Had guys open, couldn’t hit it. Get a touchdown call, get it called back. Having guys run open, getting knocked back. Lack of execution.”

Morris, on Nick Fitzgerald’s performance. The Mississippi State senior QB had five touchdowns in the game:

“I’ve said all week, he’s a quality football player, without a doubt. But this is about the Arkansas Razorbacks and the unacceptable effort, in all areas, of this program. That’s what this is about. Yes, he is a great football player, he’s broken records, won a lot of games.”

Morris on if he sensed this coming:

“Absolutely not. Not one time. Had really good workouts, our energy level has been high our attitude has been great. No.”

Morris on how his program responds to this performance:

“We will find out. It’s a gut check, that’s what it is. It’s going to take a really special person to show back up here tomorrow and put their best foot forward. And if you don’t have that, it’s okay, don’t show back up. From coaching, to playing, to equipment, to training, it’s everything.”

Arkansas finishes its season Friday at Missouri.
