Charlie Weis predicts Jaxson Dart will be a projected first-round NFL Draft pick
Charlie Weis has been around plenty of NFL players in his day.
The retired coach has plenty of experience both in college and in the NFL, and Weis’ son, Charlie Weis Jr. is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ole Miss. Therefore, the elder Weis has seen plenty of Jaxson Dart tape ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Weis took to social media on Monday to declare that Dart will be “considered a first round pick” by next week.
“Let me say this before Senior Bowl week starts. I have watched every snap of Jaxson Dart for the last 3 years plus have seen his leadership and approach off the field. By next Monday, he will be considered a first-round pick,” explained Weis. “It’s easy to wait to make that call. Not necessary!”
Dart and the younger Weis both arrived at Ole Miss in 2022. Under Weis’ direction, Dart was one of the most prolific college passers in the country.
In 39 games with the Rebels, Dart threw for 10,617 yards with 72 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. The impressive QB also rushed for 1,541 yards in his career and added 12 scores on the ground. In 2024, Dart led the Rebels to a 9-3 regular-season record and earned First-team All-SEC honors.
The 2025 class is not considered to be deep with quarterbacks. Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward are widely considered to be the top prospects, with Dart, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Texas’ Quinn Ewers coming in behind the top 2.
The senior Weis is most known for being the head coach at Notre Dame from 2005-09. The former coach also spent time as the HC at Kansas and as the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots.
