Chase Daniel upsets Tim Tebow by predicting ‘Florida could be the next Vandy’

The SEC Nation crew made the trek to Auburn, Alabama, for the primetime matchup between the Tigers and the Florida Gators under the lights in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

This will be the first time since 2011 the Gators have made the trip to The Plains, and it will also be the first SEC matchup for Florida’s new head coach, Jon Sumrall, who took over for Billy Napier last offseason.

The stakes in any SEC matchup are always massive, but it’s hard to believe the outcome of this game will have any real bearing on either program’s long-term outlook. Former Mizzou quarterback Chase Daniel turned some heads though, when he said that Florida could become the next Vandy, a comment that his co-host Tim Tebow did not take kindly to.

“You can’t say that,” Tebow said in response to Daniels head-scratching declaration. “That’s the most derogatory thing I have ever heard in my life.”

Tebow appeared to have every reason to be disgusted with Daniel at first, but tempers cooled when Daniel went on to explain that he was talking about how Vanderbilt was able to shock everybody last season by winning 10 games.

A 10-win season in Sumrall’s first year at the helm would certainly be a more welcome outcome than what it looked like Daniel was initially suggesting, but his phrasing could have been a bit better. Tebow said as much once he was able to get his blood pressure under control, and everybody around the table got a good laugh out of the exchange.
