Before the college football season got underway, Chris Doering was confident that Kentucky would win 7 or more games in 2023.
However, at 6-5 and in a slide where they have lost five of their last six contests, Doering remains shocked at how the Wildcats’ season will potentially end.
“To see them fall well short and potentially end the season with a loss here is tough to understand,” Doering said on his “Pregaming the SEC” show with Jacob Hester.
“Kentucky is one loss from finishing 6-6. That NEVER seemed possible to me.”@ChrisDoering and @JacobHester18 had a mini Kentucky therapy session on this week’s episode

Kentucky suffered a 17-14 loss to South Carolina last week. The Wildcats will now go up against their rival in No. 10 Louisville this Saturday.
“Kentucky is one loss away from finishing 6-6,” Doering said. “That never seemed possible to me.”
Doering noted that senior quarterback Devin Leary has been a “big letdown” for Kentucky this season. The lead playmaker has 2,234 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions so far.
Aside from Leary, Kentucky’s defense and its receivers have also “been a big letdown.”
“The offensive line at times has been much more like last year than an improved unit that we thought they were going to be,” Doering said.
Kentucky and Louisville will square off for the 35th time this weekend, as both teams vie for the prestigious Governor’s Cup. The Wildcats have won the last four meetings against the Cardinals.
Kickoff between Kentucky and Louisville is set for noon Saturday on ABC.
