Chris “The Bear” Fallica has a pick against the spread for the quarterfinal College Football Playoff matchup between Georgia and Notre Dame.
On Friday, Fallica revealed his betting picks for the upcoming bowl games and the quarterfinal College Football Playoff games.
In this game, Fallica likes the side of the Bulldogs.
“I landed on Georgia -1.5,” said Fallica. “Both teams have mobile quarterbacks, both teams have good defenses, good running games, but Georgia just has better players.”
The Bulldogs earned a first-round bye after winning the SEC Championship Game. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, easily took care of Indiana in their matchup. Entering this game, the Bulldogs have an 11-2 record while the Irish are sitting at 12-1.
However, a major factor in this game could be the fact that Georgia’s starting QB Carson Beck will not be playing. Gunner Stockton came in to the SEC Championship Game and led the Bulldogs to victory, but this will be the QB’s 1st start.
“The wild card is Gunner Stockton,” explained Fallica. “He can throw the ball, so I’m curious to see how he fares with an extra 3 weeks of practice.”
In the SEC Championship Game, Stockton completed 12 of 16 passes for 71 yards and 1 interception. The Irish boast the No. 8 total defense in the country, so Stockton will have a tough challenge on his hands.
The Irish and Bulldogs will kick off from the Caesars Superdome on New Year’s Day at 8:45 p.m. ET.
