In one of the scariest moments from any college football game on Saturday, Tennessee State linebacker Christion Abercrombie took a hit, collapsed on his way to the locker room and then needed emergency surgery.
While he got out of surgery Saturday night, he was unresponsive but still breathing.
Brian McLaughlin, the FCS National Coordinator for HERO Sports, cited sources Sunday night on Twitter saying the swelling in Abercrombie’s brain has gone down, but he’s still not responding.

Earlier Sunday, Tennessee State head coach Rod Reed said on his radio show that there was nothing wrong with the play Abercrombie was injured on.
Hopefully, the reports about Abercrombie continue to show that he’s improving. We certainly hope he can recover as quickly as possible.
UPDATE: Tennessee State University released a statement Sunday night to update Abercrombie’s status. The following is a statement from the university and a statement from his mother.
