Most of the United States will celebrate Halloween on Saturday. But not the city of Auburn, Ala.

The Auburn University football team plays Saturday night, so the city of Auburn has switched its Halloween date. Local children will do their trick-or-treating tonight, and on Saturday, they’ll be able to watch the Tigers host No. 19 Ole Miss.

The football game is at noon, but traffic – both from vehicles and pedestrians – is a potential safety concern, so the city decided to move Halloween to another day.

“Somehow in Auburn — it’s the most amazing thing in the world, like Halloween shifts when we play on Halloween,” Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee told al.com. “I’ve never seen a community be able to do that; it’s phenomenal. It shows you how important football is.”

As a result, many parents won’t have to decide between the two events. Including Lashlee, who might be able to take his 5-year-old twin sons trick-or-treating tonight. One son will dress up as the Flash, while the other one will likely be Iron Man. Their dad, if he goes with them, will be the Hulk.
