The SEC continued to gain commitments from some of the best prep stars in the country Saturday afternoon at the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

But the conference missed on four-star tight end Devonaire Clarington, who announced his allegiance to Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns in the second quarter of Saturday’s game.

“A wise man once told me everything’s bigger in Texas,” he said as he made his commitment during the second quarter of play.

Clarington chose the Longhorns from among a group of four finalists that included SEC contenders Florida and LSU as well as the University of Miami.

The 6-foot-5, 222-pound 19 year old was scheduled to make his official visit to LSU on Jan. 16 before he can officially sign his letter of intent in early Feb. According to the 247Sports composite player rankings, Clarington is considered the No. 4 tight end in the class of 2015.

As a junior at Westminster Christian School in Miami, Fla., in 2013, Clarington caught 46 passes for 890 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games, leading his team to a 10-2 record in the process. He was high school teammates with athlete Tim Irvin, another selection to the Army All-American Bowl expected to announce his commitment during the game.

He competed for Booker T. Washington High School in Miami as a senior in 2014.
