Clemson baseball coach to join radio broadcast for 2 games while serving suspension
Clemson baseball coach Erik Bakich is not going to sit idly by as he serves a 2-game suspension to begin the 2025 season.
Since he can’t coach in the game or even be at the stadium, Bakich will join the Clemson Baseball radio broadcast on 1055 The Roar for the first 2 contests of the year.
“I get to be on the radio, I can’t get ejected on the radio,” Bakich told reporters at Clemson on Tuesday. “So I’ll be commentating to my best ability … I’ll be on the radio and doing my very best from there. It’s a weird, kind of dumb rule. I can’t even set foot in the stadium. But whatever, we’ll make the best of it.”
Bakich is serving a suspension for an incident that occurred during last season’s Super Regional against Florida. The Tigers lost in that Super Regional to the Gators, so Bakich’s suspension carries over to the start of the 2025 campaign.
Clemson will be participating in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown to open up the 2025 season. The Tigers will face Oklahoma State on Opening Day on Friday and the Arizona on Saturday. Bakich will make his season debut on Sunday in a game against Ole Miss.
