Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back. After missing the Kansas City Chiefs’ previous 5 games due to a knee injury, the former LSU running back returned to action on Sunday.

It didn’t take long for Edwards-Helaire to make an impact, either. He scored a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter of the Chiefs’ home matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. That score put Kansas City ahead, 16-3, which was its lead at halftime.

However, it wasn’t all good for Edwards-Helaire on the scoring play, because he became the latest player to get penalized by the NFL’s new taunting rules for 2021.

While Edwards-Helaire was crossing into the end zone, he pointed at a Cowboys defender. And that was enough for him to get hit with a penalty:

It doesn’t seem like much, but this has been a point of emphasis around the NFL this year.

Still, that call didn’t change the fact that Edwards-Helaire scored a touchdown in his return. It was also his first rushing score of the 2021 season.
