Cody Schrader has been named a finalist for a prestigious award.

The Missouri running back is a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation’s best running back. The other finalists are Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton.

Schrader has been electric for the Tigers this season, recording 1,489 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year. The walk-on-turned-starter has emerged as one of the best running backs in the country and a huge part of Missouri’s success this season.

But Schrader has some serious competition for the award. Gordon has notched 1,580 yards and 20 touchdowns out of the backfield for Oklahoma State and Hampton has picked up 1,442 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Last year, Texas’ Bijan Robinson took home the award.

Regardless of he takes home the award, Schrader has had an impressive season, and it’s all the more impressive considering his journey. He started out at Division II Truman State and walked on to Missouri. Now, he’s one of the best running backs in the country.
