College Basketball AP Top 25: Auburn solidifies No. 1 spot as Florida moves up

The latest College Basketball AP Top 25 is out, and Auburn has regained its stranglehold on the No. 1 spot after some drama in last week’s poll.

Last week, the Tigers still held the No. 1 spot but lost a number of their first-place votes following a loss to Florida and a push by Alabama. But over the weekend, Auburn beat the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa with Bruce Pearl cementing their status as the No. 1 team in all the land.

Well, the AP voters agree, and Auburn grabbed 59 of the available first-place votes on Monday. The only other first-place vote went to the Gators who bumped up to No. 2 overall after tying Duke at No. 3 nationally last week.

Duke maintained its No. 3 spot while Alabama slid to No. 4 followed by Houston and Tennessee. Texas A&M continued its slow move up and landed at No. 7 overall as the SEC still claims 5 of the top 10 overall spots.

As for Mizzou, the Tigers did get some of their respect back after previously sliding down to No. 21. Back-to-back wins bumped Dennis Gates’s squad back to No. 15 while Kentucky slid down to No. 17 after losing Texas.
