Mesa Community College football coach dies after fight outside of bar

A college football coach in Arizona passed away on Saturday evening as a result of injuries sustained during a fight outside of a bar.

Robert Gundran of AZCentral.com reports that the coach, 44-year-old Benjamin McIvor, was involved in an altercation outside of Padre Murphy’s with a 47-year-old man. McIvor hit his head on the ground during the fight and later died at the hospital, per the report.

McIvor was the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Mesa Community College. MCC head coach, Ryan Felker, tweeted about the loss of McIvor:

Gundran reports the other man involved in the incident has been cooperative with police. The investigation into what exactly happened is still ongoing.
