As far as the polls go, Week 12 is more a personal week.
If your favorite team was one of the six ranked teams to fall in Week 11, you’ll check to see if they are still ranked. For fans concerned about the chase for the trophy, the new poll is one of the least anticipated.
Eighteen ranked teams, including the top 11, took care of business in Week 11. The highest-ranked team to fall was No. 12 Kentucky in an upset at unranked Tennessee.
Five other ranked teams also lost and the majority of those will probably be dropped the rankings. Those spots opening up in the Top 25 late in the season creates a potential feel-good story.
Members of the media are asked to check their fandom at the door, but if there’s one program the college football media loves to “pull for” it is UAB. The Blazers were shut down after the 2014 season, but returned in 2017. The fact that UAB is now 9-1 is one of the truly feel-good stories of the year in college football. UAB was already knocking on the door of the AP Top 25 as one of the teams receiving votes, look for voters to get them into the rankings.
