The Abilene Christian football team bus was involved in an accident late Saturday night following the team’s overtime loss against Texas Tech in Lubbock.
A university statement said there were 4 minor injuries, including a student-athlete, 2 coaches and the bus driver. All 4 were taken to a local hospital.

The accident involved at least 1 other vehicle, and the university statement said the accident occurred at the intersection of Marsha Sharp Freeway Frontage Road and University Avenue at approximately 11:45 p.m. CT.
The university’s statement said in part: “We (ACU) are grateful to Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt, their team physician, Dr. Michael Phy, and all of the first responders for their assistance and care.”
Early Sunday morning, Texas Tech Athletics released the following statement about the crash:
“The thoughts and prayers of Red Raider Nation are with our friends at ACU and those who may have been injured in tonight’s accident. Our administration has been in constant contact with ACU’s staff since their departure and will assist wherever needed.”
The Lubbock Police Department desk confirmed a 911 call at 11:33 p.m. CT for a reported vehicle accident on the Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue.
No other details on the accident have been released.
