ESPN’s Lee Corso had a plan to make one of the SEC’s biggest College GameDay appearances even bigger. According to GameDay executive producer Lee Fitting, Corso insisted on using a baby elephant to reveal his pick of Alabama in its game against then-No. 1 Mississippi State in 2014.

“And you know Corso,” Fitting told AL.com. “He just thinks an elephant can just magically appear.”

Of course, that didn’t happen and Corso, who is synonymous with his headgear selection routine, used Big Al’s mascot head instead. The former coach has picked Alabama 24 times in games at the College GameDay location, the most of any school during the program’s 20-year existence.

Perhaps he’ll have a chance to use a baby elephant this weekend when GameDay returns to Tuscaloosa for the Tide’s matchup against Texas A&M.
