In 5 seasons at Nevada, Jay Norvell has gone to 4 bowl games. The Wolf Pack are 8-4 this season with a date with Western Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 27.
The longtime coach is apparently looking for a new challenge… on the other side of the Mountain West Conference. He was announced Monday afternoon as the next head coach for the Colorado State Rams.

The Wolf Pack compete in the MWC West. The Rams are in the East, and just recently fired coach Steve Addazio after a 4-12 start to his tenure. The Rams finished the 2021 season 3-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Nevada beat CSU in Fort Collins 52-10 to end the season.
According to ESPN, Norvell was the lowest-paid coach in the Mountain West at Nevada, making roughly $620,000 annually, and is expected to get a sizable raise to move within the conference.
He’ll bring with him more than 30 years of experience coaching. Norvell has been all over as an assistant, in the NFL, in the Big Ten, the Pac-12, and the Big 12. He had a 33-26 record in 5 seasons at Nevada.
