Having pride following the ‘Third Saturday in October’ weekend? That’s a new feeling for recent Tennessee fans and former players.

It’s a good thing Cordarrelle Patterson only looks at the present instead of the past.

Patterson, who played for Tennessee in 2012, was more than happy to do his part Sunday following the Vols’ 52-49 upset win over Alabama at Neyland Stadium. During the middle of the Falcons-49ers game, Atlanta’s do-it-all offensive weapon couldn’t help but remind everyone of the outcome of Saturday’s action.

And yes, reminding might be the only word to describe his actions.

The Vols’ upset victory at home marks the first win for the program over Alabama since 2006. Quarterback Hendon Hooker strengthened his Heisman campaign by throwing for 385 yards and 5 touchdowns against 1 interception. Hooker’s biggest moment came in the closing seconds of the 4th quarter when he found Bru McCoy for a 27-yard gain to set up a game-winning 40-yard field goal from Chase McGrath.

Patterson, who currently is on the injured reserve for Atlanta, finished with 1,086 total yards of offense and 8 TDs in his lone season with the Vols. He’d go on to be drafted 29th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2013 and has been in Atlanta since the start of last season.
