Alabama defensive backs Eddie Jackson and Minkah Fitzpatrick have been named the AutoNation FWAA National Defensive Players of the Week.

Jackson and Fitzpatrick had two interceptions apiece in the Crimson Tide’s 41-23 victory over Texas A&M last Saturday.

Fitzpatrick, a freshman cornerback, returned his interceptions 33 and 55 yards for touchdowns. He is the only player in Alabama history to return two interceptions for scores in the same game. He also added two solo tackles.

Jackson, a junior safety, returned one of his interceptions 93 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. It was the third-longest interception return in school history. Jackson returned his other interception 26 yards to set up another Tide score. His 119 interception return yards set a school record. He added two solo tackles and two pass breakups.

Alabama’s 207 interception return yards set a single-game school record. It was the third-most in SEC history, and the most since Tennessee had 214 yards against South Carolina in 1971. The Crimson Tide limited Texas A&M to just one offensive touchdown and 316 yards of total offense, which was 164 yards below the Aggies’ season average.

The Crimson Tide host Tennessee Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
