Criticizing the broadcasters: Musburger’s a solo artist & more

Week 11 of the college football season was a big one for SEC Network play-by-play guy Brent Musburger. In honor of getting the Vin Scully Award from Fordham University, Musburger called the first half of last week’s Ole Miss-Texas A&M matchup by himself, which is how the Dodgers’ longtime play-by-play voice called baseball games before retiring this year.

Based on reactions in the Twitterverse, Musburger flying solo for a half wasn’t a universally liked idea:

And by the end of the game, it was clear that Musburger has a new college football obsession. He’s apparently moved on from Katherine Webb, the wife of former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and onto Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson, who led the Rebels to a 29-28 victory over the Aggies:

Danielson has his detractors

As usual, CBS Sports’ color commentator Gary Danielson shared broadcasting duties with Verne Lundquist for last week’s Auburn-Georgia matchup in Athens. Auburn did not have its best game in its 13-7, and according to some, neither did Danielson:

Kentucky-Tennessee game no winner with Andre

Andre Ware had the call for last Saturday’s Kentucky-Tennessee game along with play-by-play man Tom Hart on SEC Network. We’re not sure what was worse – both teams’ lack of defense or the criticism hurled at Ware on Twitter during the Volunteers’ 49-36 victory:
