Week 11 of the college football season was a big one for SEC Network play-by-play guy Brent Musburger. In honor of getting the Vin Scully Award from Fordham University, Musburger called the first half of last week’s Ole Miss-Texas A&M matchup by himself, which is how the Dodgers’ longtime play-by-play voice called baseball games before retiring this year.
Based on reactions in the Twitterverse, Musburger flying solo for a half wasn’t a universally liked idea:

@awfulannouncing @espn – your strategy for Musburger to announce solo "to honor his career" is not working – yawn fest #kylefield #espn

Brent Musburger trying to go all Vin Scully by himself in the booth. So far, it's clear Musburger is no Scully.

@SECNetwork putting Jesse Palmer on the sidelines and we get Musburger all by his lonesome??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ????

Listening to musburger doing play by play is awful by himself ?? Wtf??

And by the end of the game, it was clear that Musburger has a new college football obsession. He’s apparently moved on from Katherine Webb, the wife of former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and onto Ole Miss QB Shea Patterson, who led the Rebels to a 29-28 victory over the Aggies:
You ever met the dad that lives vicariously through son's athletic achievements. That's Brent Musburger talking about his son Shea Patterson

Is Shea Patterson Brent Musburger's grandson?? I've never heard such devotion to a player unproven.

Danielson has his detractors
As usual, CBS Sports’ color commentator Gary Danielson shared broadcasting duties with Verne Lundquist for last week’s Auburn-Georgia matchup in Athens. Auburn did not have its best game in its 13-7, and according to some, neither did Danielson:
"I'd rather leave Auburn with 2 seconds than 1 second." -Gary Danielson ??????????????????????????????????????WHY ARE YOU THE WORST, GARY?!?

Kentucky-Tennessee game no winner with Andre
Andre Ware had the call for last Saturday’s Kentucky-Tennessee game along with play-by-play man Tom Hart on SEC Network. We’re not sure what was worse – both teams’ lack of defense or the criticism hurled at Ware on Twitter during the Volunteers’ 49-36 victory:

Andre Ware making sense for once….

Andre Ware is awful…
— Mike E (@Mike_E11) November 12, 2016
I hate Andre Ware, any good play the Vols make is a Kentucky mistake, and every good play KY makes is because of them….
