We all know Clemson coach Dabo Swinney doesn’t come up with all his quips on the fly. Some of his one-liners have to be scripted.

Who knows what happened with this one.

Talking to the media on Tuesday, Swinney made sure to give the state of Alabama some credit outside of football. He may have thought the chuckling media was laughing with him, but it was likely laughing at him.

Swinney was pointing out the fact that the word “Alabama” is filled with great grades, but he may have miscounted.

Meanwhile, Swinney referenced a higher power when being asked about his thoughts on facing Alabama for a national title.

That wasn’t the only question involving the man upstairs.

Frank Howard was a long-time Clemson coach from 1940-1969, leading the school to an undefeated 11-0 season in 1948.
