Dak Prescott credits his lack of interceptions to his mother’s scoldings

The Dallas Cowboys will enjoy a first-round bye this weekend and then a home game in AT&T Stadium on Jan. 15 after securing an NFL-best 13-3 record and the NFC East title.

That comes much in thanks to quarterback Dak Prescott, who broke the league rookie record with a 104.9 QB rating during the regular season.

He tossed 23 touchdowns and added another six with his feet, throwing just four interceptions all year long — an incredible accomplishment for any first-year passer, considering the previous record was held by Russell Wilson with 10.

But according to Prescott, his late mother, Peggy, would not have approved of his four picks. She did not like him to throw any, quite frankly.

“Oh four interceptions,” Prescott said on a Dallas taping of the Inside the Huddle show at the House of Blues. “She didn’t do well with interceptions. I’d come home from practice [when I was younger] and tell her I threw an interception at practice and she’d say ‘Why are we practicing that?'”

In addition to breaking the records listed above, Prescott also broke Ben Roethlisberger’s rookie completion percentage record by hitting 67.8 percent of his throws.

But that’s not all — he broke Tom Brady’s record for most consecutive passes without an interception to start a career, too, going without an INT through his first 176 attempts of his career.

Prescott threw the ball to the opponent once every 115 attempts in 2016, and will look to continue the trend as the Cowboys look for their first Super Bowl win since 1995, when he was two years old.
