Dak Prescott was asked about the Dallas Cowboys’ fans throwing trash on the field, either directed at the players, or the officials following the bizarre ending to the Sunday loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

“No, I didn’t see that, it’s sad,” Prescott said. “You’re talking about men that come out every day of their lives and give everything to this sport. Give everything to this game of football. Nobody wants to succeed more than we want to succeed. I understand fans and fan is the word for fanatic, I get that. But to know everything we put into this day in and day out, trying our hardest. Nobody comes into the game wanting or expecting to lose. For people to act that way when you’re supposed to be a supporter and be with us through thick and thin, that’s tough.”

The media then mentioned that the fans may have directed their frustration, and the trash, toward the officials.

“Credit to them, then,” he said.

Prescott and the Cowboys had one last-gasp chance with 32 seconds remaining at the 49ers’ 41-yard line with 14 seconds remaining. Prescott ran a draw play, and intended to spike the ball at the 24, but the clock ran out before an official could set the ball.
