Dakereon Joyner’s decision to return to South Carolina for another season was huge news for the Gamecocks.
A talented and versatile offensive player, Joyner was utilized at wide receiver and quarterback during the 2022 season.
He was 3-for-3 passing for 101 yards and a touchdown and also had 12 carries for 56 yards and 2 scores. Additionally, he caught 8 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.
On Wednesday, Joyner appeared with Chris Gordy on “Locked on SEC” to talk about his decision.
“This decision was definitely a decision for me and my family,” Joyner said. “I just had to do what was right … and I made the best decision for me and my family.
“I told myself I wanted to be as present as possible. …Coming back was definitely the best option for me and my family.”
Joyner also added that being able to provide stability for his daughter was a key factor in his decision to return to the Gamecocks.

South Carolina finished its 2022 season at 8-5, including a Gator Bowl loss to Notre Dame.
But the Gamecocks also posted huge victories over Tennessee and Clemson during the regular season and showed significant signs of progress in Shane Beamer’s 2nd season.
