Dallas Turner has been named a finalist for a prestigious national award.

The Alabama linebacker was named among three finalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is presented to the best defensive player in college football. The other finalists include NC State linebacker Payton Wilson and UCLA defensive lineman Laiatu Latu.

Turner has been elite for Alabama this season, notching 48 total tackles, 8 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, anchoring the Tide’s defense.

Wilson is also having a monster season for the Wolfpack, picking up 138 total tackles, 6 sacks and a forced fumble. He also has 3 interceptions on the year.

Latu has picked up 49 tackles, 13 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions on the year.

If Turner takes home the award, it will be the second year in a row an Alabama player has won it. Last year, linebacker Will Anderson won the award.

Turner is looking to continue his monster season this weekend as Alabama takes on Georgia in the SEC Championship.
