Dan Mullen’s No. 11 Florida team came close to knocking off No. 1 Alabama Saturday afternoon in Gainesville. The Gators fell 31-29 to the Crimson Tide, and after the game, Mullen spoke to media about the SEC setback.
According to OnlyGators.com, Mullen pointed to the defense, and the penalties committed by that defense, in his postgame comments.
“We gave up too many first downs, penalty-wise, that allowed them to score,” said Mullen.

Florida was penalized seven times for 67 yards in the loss.
Mullen also spoke about closing the once-wide gap between the two programs in Alabama and Florida.
