In case you missed it, Florida’s stadium, referred to as “The Swamp,” had smoke pouring out of it on Saturday afternoon.
Various reports have the cause as a golf cart fire, a maintenance tractor fire and a literal dumpster fire. Which one is correct has yet to be officially determined. Still, that didn’t stop fans from having fun with the dumpster fire jokes.
Even Florida coach Dan Mullen got in on the jokes. As you can see below, he responded to a tweet about the fire saying it’s going to be another 2 weeks before the Gators are on fire:
You know the Gators are gonna be on fire ? this year. But we still have 2 weeks til kickoff.

Florida opens the season at Ole Miss, so we’ll see if Mullen’s crew does indeed start the season on fire. Many expect the Gators to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff this fall.
For now, though, they’re just glad their home stadium didn’t suffer any major damage and no one was hurt.
