Danny Stutsman is a New Orleans Saint, as the Oklahoma linebacker was taken in the 4th round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Stutsman, the No. 112 overall selection in 2025, is the first Sooner to be selected this year. That ended a streak of 10 straight years of an Oklahoma player being taken in the first three rounds of the draft.
Stutsman, a 4-star recruit out of the class of 2021, was an instant contributor for the Oklahoma program, making 38 tackles as a true freshman. He posted tackle totals of 125, 104, and 109 over his next 3 years, leading the team in each of those seasons.
Stutsman also posted back-to-back double-digit tackles for loss numbers in 2022 (11) and 2023 (16). In 2023, he landed on the All-Big 12 first team while garnering All-SEC first team honors in 2024, Oklahoma’s first season in the conference.
Now, he joins the Saints, who finished with a 5-12 record in 2024. It’s a new era in New Orleans as it will be led by new head coach Kellen Moore, the former Boise State quarterback and ex-Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator. The Saints are seeking a first playoff apperance since 2020.
