David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea discuss their backgrounds and why they decided to join the Alabama football program

With Scott Cochran off to Georgia, it’s a new day in Tuscaloosa and instead of going out and finding another coach in the traditional strength coach mold, Nick Saban went out and hired a Director of Sports Performance in David Ballou and a Director of Sports Science in Dr. Matt Rhea.
The two men sat down for a virtual meeting with Alabama head trainer Jeff Allen, which was posted by the program’s Instagram account for a long discussion on the path that led them both to Tuscaloosa and what attracted them to joining Saban’s football program.
Other topics discussed include the use of data to help players develop in Alabama’s new strength and condition program.
