Georgia is looking to do the impossible heading into the 2023 season.
The Bulldogs are looking for a 3rd straight championship, and the feat doesn’t feel that out of reach.
While Georgia’s roster looks different this season, namely the loss of Stetson Bennett at quarterback, former Georgia star David Pollack joined Greg McElroy’s “Always College Football” to explain how the Bulldogs can reach a 3rd championship.
Georgia will be looking to a new quarterback, Carson Beck, to lead the offense. While he may not be the playmaker that Bennett was, Pollack explains that he doesn’t need to be because the offense is already so good. That starts with tight end Brock Bowers.
“This offense is so easy to play in because of Brock Bowers,” Pollack said. “It’s the easiest system in the world because Brock is the ultimate chess piece.”
From there, Georgia has several receivers that can blow by defensive backs and make plays.
“All the pieces are there,” Pollack said. “I don’t think Carson Beck has to be extra special. I think he can play for that system and do great.”
On the defensive side, Georgia will have a new look as well. Pollack believes the defensive line will rely more on the outside than being an interior-heavy team.
“I do think this defense will be built a little bit different,” Pollack said. “I think when you saw this defense in the past, they could really get a lot of pressure from the interior. I think they’ll have better pass rushers on the outside.”
The new-look Bulldogs begin their quest for another championship Sept. 2 against UT-Martin.
