David Pollack makes bold prediction for Georgia QB Gunner Stockton in 2025
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton is preparing to take over for Carson Beck this offseason, and former Bulldog David Pollack is optimistic about how he’ll play this fall.
Pollack spoke about Georgia’s quarterback situation on a recent episode of his See Ball Get Ball podcast. He believes Stockton will be better than Carson Beck was a year ago for the Bulldogs.
“I think Gunner Stockton will have a better year this year than Carson Beck had last year,” Pollack said. “That’s what I think.”
Beck did have a bit of a disappointing campaign for Georgia relative to preseason expectations, but he still put up some solid numbers: 3,485 passing yards and a career-high 28 touchdowns. Still, Pollack believes Stockton has the physical ability and mental makeup to surpass Beck’s 2024 production.
“I’ve spent time with Gunner,” Pollack added. “He’s been at our Pollack Family Foundation golf tournament the last 2 years. I don’t know that I’ve met a more humble kid. I’m just telling you … He’s an easy kid to cheer for. He’s quiet, he’s reserved. But he watches tape, he grinds. He loves the game of football. I can tell you that he’s not the perfect quarterback from a height perspective, from a release perspective, but here’s another thing I can tell you too. The Georgia quarterbacks that have done really great weren’t the highly-recruited ones all the time.”
Pollack went on to compare Stockton to Georgia quarterbacks of the past like Aaron Murray and David Greene.
Stockton has not yet been named Georgia’s starting quarterback, but he is certainly the favorite to win the role over Ryan Puglisi as the Bulldogs go through spring camp. It was Stockton who replaced Beck last season after he suffered a serious injury in the SEC Championship Game.
If Stockton does win the job, expectations will be high for both him and the Bulldogs overall. Georgia reached the College Football Playoff last season was ousted by Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Next season, the Bulldogs will hope to get back to the National Championship Game.
