David Stone has entered the transfer portal, according to a report.

That news was first shared by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer, who note that Stone was a 5-star recruit for the Sooners back in the class of 2024. He spent 1 year in Norman, but will look to continue his college career elsewhere.

Despite his high prospect pedigree, Stone did not make a huge impact for Oklahoma during his true freshman season. Stone played just 94 snaps last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

Stone was the No. 9 overall player and the No. 2 defensive lineman in the country for the 2024 high school recruiting cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Although he finished his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida, he’s originally from nearby Del City, Oklahoma.

Stone will likely become one of the most highly-recruited transfers on the market. He’s also the first significant loss for Oklahoma since the spring transfer portal window opened earlier this week.

Stone will not be able to transfer to another SEC program since he’s departing during the spring window. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining at his next program.
