Deion Sanders was officially named the new head coach at Colorado on Saturday night.

Sanders is already working on putting his staff together and has targeted one of Alabama’s top assistants, per FootballScoop.com.

More specifically, Sanders is interested in bringing Charles Kelly with him to Boulder.

Kelly is currently the assistant defensive coordinator and safeties coach for the Crimson Tide.

Sanders hasn’t worked directly with Kelly, but Kelly previously worked at Sanders’ alma mater, Florida State, under Jimbo Fisher.

Numerous FBS programs targeted Sanders during this coaching carousel cycle, but it was the Buffaloes who won out over South Florida and Cincinnati, as well as others possibly.

Sanders emerged as a hot commodity by leading Jackson State to a 27-5 record in 3 seasons, including a 12-0 mark this year.
