HOOVER, Ala. — Dennis Dodd, the national college football writer for CBS Sports, isn’t an SEC-centric guy.

As a result, his perspective on the conference is unique since he’s exposed to a lot more of the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-12 than most of the people here for Media Days. The SEC claims that “it just means more,” but does it really?

Dodd was kind enough to spend some with with us Monday at the Wynfrey Hotel to talk about the future of the College Football Playoff, how Missouri — his alma mater, by the way — fits into the culture of the conference and which coaches in the league may or may not be on the hot seat. We even chatted about the state of sports journalism as a whole.
