Desmond Howard explains why he wouldn’t have an SEC team in the College Football Playoff

Desmond Howard made a bold statement on Saturday morning’s College GameDay show. He said an SEC team wouldn’t make his College Football Playoff picks.
Instead, Howard would go with a Pac-12 team that he compared to the Miami Dolphins. Howard likes the Washington Huskies in part because they can score at will. A pair of SEC heavyweights, however, in Alabama and Georgia, have had uneven starts offensively.
“If I had a chance to pick my 4 Playoff teams again, I don’t think I would pick an SEC team,” Howard said. “I think I would put Washington over either Alabama or Georgia, because Washington right now, they’re playing to a standard. They don’t care who their opponent is. They’re going out there, kicking ass and taking names.”
Washington has wins over Boise State, Tulsa, Michigan State and Cal, and the No. 7 Huskies play at Arizona on Saturday night.
Howard also praised the play of QB Michael Penix Jr. and called him a “sharpshooter” and “cerebral.”
Pat McAfee, meanwhile, came to the defense of Georgia, and said Carson BEck “found it” last week.
